Care Home Website Design
Your website is doing a harder job than most. It is being read by someone who is stressed, often guilty, frequently making this decision faster than they would like, and quietly terrified of getting it wrong. A brochure will not help them. A site that answers their real questions, honestly and quickly, will.
Get My Free AuditThe gap between the home and the website
We meet excellent homes all the time whose websites actively undersell them. Stock photography instead of the real building. A gallery of empty rooms with nobody in them. No fees, no CQC rating, no named person to speak to.
The family cannot tell whether you are warm or clinical, whether the staff stay, whether they can afford you. So they do the safe thing and go and look at the home whose site did answer those questions.
A good care home website is not a design problem. It is a reassurance problem.
What's included
How we approach website design
Structure built around the decision
Pages that map to the order families actually ask things: can we afford it, is it any good, what is it like, who do I speak to.
Honest, human copywriting
Written to sound like your home rather than a brochure. Plain English about fees, funding and care types — the subjects most sites avoid, and the ones families most want addressed.
Enquiry paths that reduce friction
Short forms, prominent phone numbers, a named contact, and a clear invitation to visit. Every page ends knowing what it wants the reader to do next.
Fast, accessible and mobile-first
Built statically for speed, and tested for accessibility — which matters more than usual when a meaningful share of your audience is over sixty-five.
CQC rating and trust signals surfaced
Your rating, your registration details and your team shown clearly rather than buried, because hiding them reads as having something to hide.
Designing for a difficult moment
Why this matters specifically in care
Most commercial websites are designed to build desire. A care home website is designed to reduce fear. That inverts a lot of standard practice: fewer superlatives, more specifics; fewer stock smiles, more real rooms; no urgency tactics, ever. Countdown timers and "only two rooms left" banners are not merely tasteless in this context — they destroy the trust that the entire enquiry depends on.
Straight answers
Website Design — frequently asked questions
How long does a care home website take to build?
Typically six to ten weeks from kick-off, with the main variable being how quickly we can get photography and sign-off on copy. Groups with multiple homes take longer because the architecture needs more thought up front.
Should we publish our fees?
In our experience, at least a starting range is worth publishing. Families overwhelmingly say opacity makes them assume the worst, and vague pricing generates enquiries from people who were never going to be able to afford you — which wastes your team's time as much as theirs.
Can you work with our existing website?
Sometimes. If the foundations are sound, targeted improvements to structure, copy and enquiry paths can deliver a lot without a rebuild. If the site is slow, unmaintainable or built on something ageing, patching it usually costs more over two years than replacing it. The free audit will tell you honestly which situation you are in.
